EXPERIENCE

Six areas of data centre experience

Working within an interdisciplinary team

Working as a structural engineer within an interdisciplinary team, coordinating with architecture, electrical, mechanical and construction teams.

Developing structural systems for next-generation data centres

Development and evaluation of load-bearing systems for next-generation data centres - from concept and standardisation to solutions applicable across multiple sites.

Structural design in concrete, steel and timber

Structural design in concrete, steel and timber, including material selection driven by loads, construction schedules and local availability.

Experience with Basis of Design

Work on Basis of Design documentation - defining design criteria, loads and code frameworks as the basis for every subsequent design phase.

Hyperscale data centres

Experience on hyperscale facilities, where repeatability of details, speed of construction and assembly tolerances directly govern the structural solution.

Global experience - AMER, EMEA, APAC

Collaboration on projects and with teams across the AMER, EMEA and APAC markets, working to different code systems and local conditions.

APPROACH

Why a data centre is a different engineering problem

On a data centre, close cooperation and mutual understanding between all disciplines is what makes the project work. The structure is not designed in isolation - it follows and supports the processes taking place inside the facility, and that is only possible when the disciplines understand each other and work together from the first stage.

Data centres contain a large quantity of equipment installed at high density, which directly governs loads, layouts and structural details. Efficiency is therefore the measure throughout the design process - the goal is not simply to design a structure, but to develop one that effectively supports the processes, equipment and requirements of the entire facility.

· Disciplines working together and understanding each other
· A structure that follows the processes and equipment
· Efficiency through every design stage
